An outstanding performance of two goals and three assists in two games has earned Wolf Pack forward Matthew Carniel a PJHL star of the week. This is the first time a Wolf Pack player has been recognized as a league star this season.
The Real Deal was dominant in both games this past week, tallying a goal against Richmond and Aldergrove. He was also named the third and second star in those games.
The Port Moody native has been with the team since the 2021-22 season and reached 70 regular season points on the weekend. Carniel is a game away from 75 regular season games and a point removed from 75 points, including regular season and playoffs.
“Means a lot to help our team and try to start out the season on the right foot,” Carniel said. He also spoke about how much this recognition means to him and to help the team get back on track after a rough start. “Our goal moving forward is to continuously get better and take the proper steps needed to be contending for a championship this year,” Carniel added.
Getting this team back to championship glory is the primary goal, and this PJHL star of the week could be the spark for the North Vancouver Wolf Pack.
Catch Carniel and the Wolf Pack at Harry Jerome on Saturday, September 30th, against the Delta Ice Hawks. Saturday marks Orange Shirt Day, and the team will wear orange and encourage fans to do the same as they pay respect to Canada’s National Day for Truth & Reconciliation.
